You’re right, Las …
You’re right, Las Vegas lights can be very bright, but by the sounds of your specs, you’re using a non-DSLR, so even small f-numbers will still have lots in focus. I’d try f4 for the best quality on a compact. Then choose the lowest ISO value, and just experiment with different shutter speeds in manual until you get the result you want – it’s impossible to say without experimenting! Remember to use a tripod, switch off stabilisation and use a self-timer to avoid wobbling the camera.
Hi Gordon. Looks …
Hi Gordon. Looks fantastic…Could you advise best settings for say night photography in Las Vegas where there is ample and sufficient lighting and I would like to get as much focus as possible. Max shutter is 15sec and my fstop range is 2.8 through to 8. Much appreciated. PS have tripod.

What I love about your videos is that you are honest about your tips. You don’t over do it with over the top technical terms just to make yourself seem smarter than everyone else. Every time I have a camera related inquire, you’re the first person I turn. Thankx for being you and doing what you do. Ed

Yes, if you want …
Yes, if you want more DOF, use a bigger f-number, night or day, but remember you’ll need longer exposures and at night, that may require Bulb mode beyond 30 seconds.
